On November 17, 2020, the Florida Home Builders Association (FHBA) officially requested that the Florida Building Commission delay the Florida Building Code, Energy Conservation, 7th Edition (2020) for a period of six-months from the time a software program, such as EnergyGauge, is approved by the commission. At this time, not one software program has been released, nor approved by the commission. Builders simply cannot plan for future projects and maintain compliance when the software programs they depend on have yet to be updated to reflect the new energy conservation code.

The Florida Building Commission is scheduled to meet on Tuesday, December 15th, 2020 via teleconference.  The request to delay the energy conservation code is number 15 on the agenda.
